Rohit Kumar is an Indian Kabaddi player born in Nizampur, Panipat, Haryana on January 19, 1990.
Bengaluru Bulls long time captain Rohit Kumar made his Pro Kabaddi debut for Patna Pirates, scoring 109 points on his debut and helping Patna Pirates win the trophy.
Rohit speak about his journey to professional Kabddi, “During my childhood, I was not interested in sports. The elders of my village used to play kabaddi. I saw Rakesh Kumar playing with a few others and he inspired me to play kabaddi. My father played kabaddi for a short time, but he joined the Delhi Police. He wants me to play kabaddi, so he takes me, Rakesh and Manjeet to watch matches in our village. I thought if I look like Rakesh Kumar then it will be good. That’s how I started, but it’s not a continuous process, I switch between games. I played the game and thought of playing one-on-one games instead of team games. I am good at 100 meters, 200 meters, long jump and high jump. I decided to take up kabaddi because I understood the game, my father told me to put more effort in kabaddi and build a career. Gradually I got to play in the state national team and started to like it. I was really happy when I received the kit bag. When I wore the training uniform of the Delhi team, the thought of wearing the Indian jersey also crossed my mind and I worked hard for it.”

In 2016, Rohit made his debut for the Indian national team at the South Asian Games 2016. He showed great skill and won the gold medal for the country. His art impressed everyone. He is also a part of the Kabaddi Masters Dubai 2018 squad. His Pro Kabaddi League journey started in 2014.
He missed the first two seasons but made a big debut in the third. He went on to play for Patna Pirates and was the most valuable player when his team won the title. He could not participate in PKL for two consecutive seasons. Finally, he joined the league in the third season when Patna Pirates bought him in the auction. In his debut season, Kumar was exceptional for the Pirates, scoring 109 points in 12 games. He provided Pardeep Narwal with great support during this campaign and won the “Best Player” award.
