Harmanpreet kaur was born on March 8, 1989 in Moga, Punjab to Harmandar Singh Bhullar and Satinder Kaur. Her father is a volleyball and basketball player. Harmanpreet Kaur’s family includes her father, mother and younger sister Hemjeet.

Harmanpreet started playing cricket when she joined Gian Jyoti School Academy, which is 30 km from her home. Virender Sehwag inspired Harmanpreet Kaur during her cricketing career.

Harmanpreet Kaur is an Indian athlete. She plays as an all-rounder for the Indian women’s cricket team. He has played a total of 78 ODIs, 2 Tests and 68 T20 Internationals for India so far (Sept 23). In November 2018, she became the first Indian woman to score a century in a Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I).

In October 2019, in a series against South Africa, She became the first Indian cricketer to play 100 Twenty20 internationals, for men or women.

International career of Harmanpreet Kaur

Harmanpreet Kaur made her first step in international cricket at the age of 20 against Pakistan in the 2009 Women’s World Cup.

She made her T20 debut in the 2009 ICC Women’s Twenty20 against England. He scored 8 runs in 7 balls in the match. The world first got a glimpse of his incredible power in a T20 match against England in Mumbai in 2010. He quickly scored 33 points, helping his team win the game by 30 points.

Harmanpreet Kaur captained the Indian cricket team for the first time in the 2012 Women’s T20 Asian Cup final. Captain Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami both missed the final round due to injuries. Harmanpreet led the team to victory in the final as they defeated Pakistan by 81 runs. India’s tour of Bangladesh in 2013 saw him lead the team. In the second ODI match of the series, Kaur scored the second century of her ODI career. He is the best run-getter in the series with 195 runs under his belt at an average of 97.50.

Harmanpreet Kaur surprised everyone after she took 9 wickets in the test match against South Africa to help India win the match by one set and 34 runs. The year 2016 saw him become the first Indian cricketer to be signed by a Twenty20 international for Sydney Thunder. She signed for the 2016-17 season. Harmanpreet Kaur became a household name in the cricket world after her spectacular bowling against Australia in the semi-final of the World Cricket World Cup 2017. She took the world by storm after scoring 171 runs against just 115 balls.

Her fire helped his team qualify for the finals. Harmanpreet’s 171 is the second highest score by an Indian in One Day Internationals. The year 2017 also saw her break into the top ten of the ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings. With this, she became the second Indian cricketer to enter the top 10 after Mithali Raj. Harmanpreet Kaur became the captain of the Indian T20 team for the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 2018, held in West Indies.

She wrote his name in the history books after scoring a century in the opening match against New Zealand. She scored 103 runs in 51 balls, becoming the first Indian woman to score a century in WT20. Harmanpreet Kaur finished the tournament as India’s top run-scorer, scoring 183 runs in five matches. The following year, she was included in the Sydney Thunder’s squad for the 2018–19 Women’s Big Bash League.

In January 2020, she led India to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia. India could not win the tournament as they lost to Australia in the final.

Kaur’s journey as Captain

In 2012, in the 2012 Women’s Asian Cup Twenty20 Final, Kaur was ordered to lead the Indian team as captain Mithali Raj and vice-captain Jhulan Goswami were out due to injuries.
She made her captain’s debut against Pakistan Women as India chased down 81 points to win the Asian Championship. During India’s tour of Bangladesh in 2013, Kaur was named ODI captain of the Indian team. In the second match of the series, he scored his second ODI century. Again, thanks to Kaur’s quick knock of 46 off just 31 balls. She continued her form in the 2016 ICC Women’s World Twenty-20. He accumulated 89 runs and took 7 wickets in 4 matches. At the age of 20, Kaur made her One Day International (ODI) debut in the 2009 Women’s Cricket World Cup against Pakistan.

She was named the ODI captain of the Indian women’s team in 2013 when India hosted the Bangladesh women’s cricket team. In 2012, Kaur was named captain of the Indian women’s team for the 2012 Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup final.
