Virender Sehwag was born on October 20, 1978 in Najafgarh and is known as the Nawab of Najafgarh. He was born in Jar family of Krishnan and Krishna Sehwag. Sehwag’s ancestral roots belong to the Indian state of Haryana.

As a child, he attended Arora Vidya School in New Delhi. Sehwag comes from a big family and has two sisters – Anju and Manju and a younger brother Vinod who is growing up.

He started playing cricket at a young age when his father gave him a bat at a young age and he played with him in the stadium. He is coached by Amar Nath Sharma and has a reputation as an aggressive and aggressive player.

Sehwag’s first ODI international was a disaster as he was the only team to win against Pakistan in April 1999. So, for almost two years he didn’t get another chance. In December 2000, Sehwag got his second chance and he was not going to let this one go. In March 2001 he scored 58 runs in 54 runs and took three wickets. The result was the man’s first gift of his sport. In August of the same year, he began to open the game. With outstanding performance, he supported his teammates in the Indian team.

In the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka, Sehwag won the man of the match award twice. However, his performance in the 2003 Cricket World Cup was average. In the following years his performance in Test cricket was very good, but he could not score much in the limited overs.

After a brief lapse in performance, he came back strong. It continued to explode for centuries despite the lack of consistency in style. Sehwag has appeared in ICC’s World XI several times.

The ban ended one of cricket’s most illustrious careers, as Sehwag announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket on October 20, 2015.

Virender Sehwag made his Test cricket debut in 2001 against South Africa and compiled a magnificent century on his debut.

In the 2002 English Tour he scored 84 in the new fly-half role at Lords, then a century in the second Test at Trent Bridge and won there in Test matches ever since. He scored a maiden century of 147 in the first Test against the West Indies in 2002–03 at home in Mumbai, which was the highest score in a Test match at the time, earning him his first Premier League award.

After a poor tour of New Zealand, he scored more than 50 for the first time in 9 innings when he scored 130 in the Test at Mohali against New Zealand in late 2003.

# Border-Gavaskar Series 2003-04: Virender Sehwag impressed everyone in the 2003-04 tour of Australia where he finished as the team’s third best run-scorer. He scored 464 runs in 4 matches at an average of 58.00. In the third Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Sehwag played one of the best performances of his career, scoring 195 runs from 233 deliveries, an innings that featured 25 fours and 5 sixes.

Highest Test Score: 309, Multan 2004: On March 29, 2004, Virender Sehwag became the first batsman in Indian cricket history to score a century in Test cricket. He went hammer and stick and amassed 309 runs against a devastating bowling attack and set the stage for a big win. After Sehwag’s heroics, he was called “Multan ka Sultan”.

India-South Africa Series 2008: As the series ended in a draw, Virender Sehwag once again wrote his name in the record books after scoring the fastest three centuries in Tests. In his first Test in Chennai, Sehwag scored three centuries in 278 deliveries. He scored 319 runs in 304 balls, including 42 fours and 5 sixes.

He became the series leading scorer with 372 runs to his name in 3 matches at an average of 74.40 and a strike rate of 102.76.

Sehwag in Indian Premier League career

Virender Sehwag captained Delhi Daredevils in the first two editions of the Indian Premier League before stepping down to focus on his batting and handing over to Gautam Gambhir.

However, he is the only player who holds the title of the franchise for the fourth season of the IPL, this time as the captain of the Delhi Daredevils. In the fifth edition of the team, Virender Sehwag led the team again, breaking the record of being the first batsman to score five consecutive half-centuries in T20s.
