Tennis – The Most popular sports Game

Tennis is one of the most popular people’s sports in the world. In tennis, a player uses a racket to hit the ball over the net into the opponent’s court. The ball will not be kept in the game and can take back one time in the courtyard in front of the opponent will see the ball on a net.

The standard ballot is replaced with a rubber surface. Tennis is usually played with one player per team (singles) or with two players per team (doubles).

The first form of tennis dates back to 16th century France where players shouted “hold” at the start of the game giving the game the name Tennis. Later, the game will be completed in England in the 19th century as lawn tennis will be like the game we play today.

History of Tennis sport

Research cannot determine exactly where tennis originated, but the most common theory is that it was invented by French monks in the 11th or 12th century.

The game became popular when rich people learned the game from monks. Famous people turn their garden into an indoor garden and create bats for playing football, which are made of cork, wrapped with twine or cloth and later, leather.

By 1500, wooden rackets were commonly used – with cork balls weighing about three ounces. Tennis had many royal patrons, including Henry VII and VIII who built other courts (including one of the few surviving courts, built at Hampton Court Palace in 1625).

The game of “real tennis” (or “court tennis” as it is known in the United States) is very different from the game we know as tennis. The ball is played there around many walls with verandas and houses.

The origin of the game today can be traced back to Major Harry Gem and his friend, Augurio Perera, who combined elements of the racquet game with the Spanish ball game called Pelota, playing it outdoors on grass croquet .

Major Walter Clopton Wingfield, who is often credited as the inventor of modern tennis, invented the game and in December 1873 created a new variation called Sphairistike. The name comes from ancient Greek and means “skill in football”. He also invented equipment and published laws.

In the next few years, the game grew, leading to the establishment of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), an organization that developed a unique set of rules and regulations.

General rules of tennis

If the server fails in the first attempt, it gets another chance. But if he fails to complete the task correctly in the second attempt, it is called a mistake and points will be lost. You must hit the ball before the second rebound, each time the opponent sends it into your court.
Players can change sides during a game or break by mutual consent. You cannot hit the ball into the net.
You cannot touch the net with your racket or body. If you commit any of the above violations, it results in points for your opponent.

The ball in tennis is changed every six games. As a receiver, if you hit the ball directly from the service – without letting it enter your court – it will count as a foul and the server will get a point.
The coach cannot intervene and give instructions to the player while the game is in progress, or let him give instructions through any movement.

How to play Tennis

When it comes to playing tennis, players need to have a lot of energy and physical strength. A player must run from side to side in order to return his opponent’s shot. Of course, every game requires mental preparation and perseverance to win. The game starts with a throw. The seat umpire flips the coin and the player declares “Heads” or “Tails”. The player who wins the toss has the option of choosing a side of the court or serving first.

If a player chooses a side of the court, the opponent serves first. The serving player stands behind the base on the right side of the court and serves the ball. The player should also make sure not to touch or cross the center line on the baseline. The serving player must stand on the sideline at the center line.

A player receiving the ball may stand inside or outside the base according to his convenience and strategy. The opposing player can return the correct serve and turn into a continuous fire. Any player may end up shooting a shot outside the base or sideline to be called “Outside”. The opposing player gets a point.

The serving player can serve until either the player or the opponent wins the game. Later, the message is passed to the opposing player and the game continues until one of them wins a set in the game. During the game, players rotate sides after completing different numbers of plays. The change of ending is also at the time of tea break.

The role passes to the opposing player when the game is over. Tennis matches are counted in the number of matches. Men play five sets per game, and women play three sets per game. Each set has a number of games to play. A player is considered to have won a set when he wins six games and maintains a minimum of two games between his opponents.

Similarly, a gentleman is declared the winner when he wins three out of five. A woman is declared the winner when she wins two out of three rounds. Singles, doubles and mixed doubles are the three variations of tennis. We will discuss this in the next chapter. In a doubles game, duties are passed to the opponent after each game and again between the partners.

The first server/receiver decides between partners in both games. When both players/teams have won six games each, a tiebreaker occurs. In a split, each player can serve twice. However, the player who serves first will serve once and the serve will pass to the opposing player. In the next round, the player who started the break of the tee can serve twice.

The tiebreaker continues until one of the players scores seven points and remains two points ahead of the opponent. By doing this, the player is declared the winner of the toss and set.
