Rohan Bopanna’s Biography

Rohan Bopanna is an Indian tennis player. Rohan Bopanna was born in Coorg, Karnataka on March 4, 1980. When Bopanna was growing up, he was fond of playing all kinds of sports.

Growing up, Rohan realized that he had a passion for tennis and therefore decided to consider tennis as a serious career option. Rohan made his tennis debut in 2002 at the prestigious Davis Cup where he represented India.

Rohan has not looked back since then and has represented India in many international tennis tournaments. Over time, he found his sweet spot in doubles and got a full-time job. Shortly after Rohan Bopanna married Supriya, she was ranked 3rd in the world doubles tennis rankings in 2013.

Rohan Bopanna is an aggressive player who likes to lift the ball in the air whenever he gets a chance. It has role-oriented games; he uses his first big message to establish many points. Bopanna’s running game is suitable for fast court. Although he can defend the back of the court, he prefers to plant himself in the net and steal everything that comes.

2007

Bopanna emerged as one of India’s best footballers in the 2007 Hopman tournament. She lost her first match but helped Sania Mirza win 2-1 against the Czech Republic in the final in a tough match and double.

In their second meeting against Croatia, the situation repeated itself, as Mirza won his team’s first match while Bopanna won. They combined to beat the Croatians by two goals to finish with four points from three matches. India beat Spain to finish second in Group B, with Mirza and Bopanna both losing their singles matches but losing in two seedings.

2008

Bopanna won the men’s doubles title at the Countrywide Classic in Los Angeles with partner Eric Butorac. It was his first ATP title.

2009

Rohan started the season well by qualifying for the Chennai Open but lost in the first round of the main draw. In February, he reached the finals of the SAP Open in San Jose, California, partnering Jarkko Nieminen.

2010: First Grand Slam doubles final


Rohan Bopanna started the year with a bang, reaching the quarterfinals of the Chennai Open, along with Mahesh Bhupathi.

In February, together with Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, Bopanna won his second ATP title and the duo’s first, defeating Karol Beck and Harel Levy in the final of the SA Tennis Open in a major break. The duo reached the final of the Hassan II Grand Prix in Casablanca, Morocco.

They reached the final round of the Nice Open, before defeating the Brazilian pair of Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares. In June, Bopanna and Qureshi reached the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam event for the first time in their careers at Wimbledon.

After successful Wimbledon, Bopanna and Qureshi reached another final at the Atlanta Open. They defeated the world No. 1 pair of the Bryan brothers in straight sets in the quarterfinals of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington, D.C. They defeated Mardy Fish and Mark Knowles in their semi-final match.

They reached the finals of the New Haven Open at Yale and St. Petersburg Open. At the US Open, Bopanna reached the final round of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time. Bopanna and Qureshi were the 16th seeds and defeated USA team Brian Battistone and Ryler DeHeart in the first round.

2011: Ranked 10th most in doubles

Bopanna started the 2011 season with Qureshi at the Chennai Open in early January. With the IndoPak Express and the Indian pair of Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes at the other end of the draw, there is hope for a dream finish. However, Bopanna and Qureshi lost in the quarterfinals to finalists Robin Haase and David Martin, 4–6, 5–7.

The duo finished in the semi-finals at the Medibank International in Sydney. They exited the Australian Open in the third round.

2012

In 2012, Bopanna danced with fellow countryman Mahesh Bhupathi. They were seeded fourth at the Australian Open but reached the third round. He and Bhupathi won their first title in Dubai.

Bopanna was selected to participate in the London 2012 Olympics in the men’s doubles category in partnership with Mahesh Bhupathi.

2013

Bopanna and Bhupathi played with different partners for the first three months of 2013, but joined the Monte-Carlo Masters.

Rohan partnered with Édouard Roger-Vasselin at Wimbledon in 2013 and reached the semi-finals before withdrawing from the tournament in a tough match that ended in five sets against the Bryan brothers.

Following the team’s run at Wimbledon in 2013, Rohan reached his best international ranking of third in doubles on July 22, 2013, and was ranked for the first time as an Indian. the highest.

2017

In April, he won his fourth major title with Pablo Cuevas at the Monte-Carlo Masters. They beat the Spanish duo of Feliciano López and Marc López in the final. In August, he teamed up with Ivan Dodig to reach the second Masters final of the season at the Rogers Cup. They lost the final to two Frenchmen, Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut. He finished the year with 18th place, and won three titles in six races.

2018: Second mixed doubles final

Bopanna partnered with Hungarian Tímea Babos at the Australian Open. They reached the final but lost to a pair of Gabriela Dabrowski and Mate Pavić. This is Bopanna’s second Grand Slam mixed final.
