Mahesh Bhupati, the Indian tennis player who became the first to win the Grand Slam tournament in 1997. He joined the famous group that achieved the Mixed Doubles Grand Slam career of eight players in 2006. He became the founder of the International Premier Tennis League.

Along with Ai Sugiyama, Mahesh Bhupathi also won the mixed doubles at the US Open in Japan. Hingis and Bhupathi defeated the team of Elena Likhovtseva and Daniel Nestor.

He was named the non-Indian Davis Cup captain and replaced Anand Amritraj in February 2017.
He played with many talented partners like Dick Norman, Jeff Belloli, Chris Haggard, Ali Hamadeh, Tomas, Kent, Tommy Ho, Tin Henman and Rohan Bopanna. He received many awards like Padma Shri, Davis Cup and Karmaveer Puruskaar.
Bhupathi is an aggressive player who likes to attack the net at the first opportunity. Although he can hit hard from deep in the park, his favorite position is on the front side, where he can quickly clear volleys.
Bhupathi’s attacking style of play is best suited for doubles, where he gets most of his chances. He can hit drop volleys, bank volleys and overhead bursts with equal confidence, and is a huge presence at the net.
The Indian has a strong message, which he uses to organize many of his tactics. His two back arms are also considered weapons, because he is strong both in attack and defense. Bhupathi is not the fastest in the pitcher which hinders his defense at times. He may also struggle to generate enough firepower to punch with his fists on the court.
Mahesh Bhupathi became a professional tennis player in 1995. He teamed up with Leander Paes, a combination that did wonders for Indian tennis. Both won six ATP doubles titles in 1997.
Bhupathi, along with Paes, won three doubles titles, including Roland Garros and Wimbledon, in 1999. He and Paes became the first Indian team to reach four Grand Slam finals in the same year, since 1952.

Two years later, Bhupathi partnered with Martina Hingis to defeat Daniel Nestor and Elena Likhovtseva at the Australian Open in two sets. In 2007, a team consisting of Bhupathi and Czech Radek Stepanek qualified for the fourth round of the Australian Open men’s singles final.
In 2009, the team of Bhupathi-Sania Mirza won two mixed titles at the Australian Open by defeating Nathalie Dechy (France) and Andy Ram (Israel). In 2011, Bhupathi teamed up with former player Leander Paes for the 2011 Australian Open. The pair reached the final, but lost 3-6, 4-6 to the Bryan brothers.
On June 7, 2012, Bhupathi and Sania Mirza won the French Open in mixed doubles. On November 4, 2012, Bhupathi and his teammate Rohan Bopanna won the Paris Masters.
Despite setbacks and defeats to Jonathan Murray and Frederik Nielsen in the opening round of the ATP Tour Finals, the Indian duo reached the final round of the ATP Tour Finals but lost to Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez.
Bhupathi and Bopanna played with different partners for the first three months of 2013, and Bhupathi won the Dubai Championship in March with Michaël Llodra, and is participating in the Monte-Carlo Masters.
In 2012, Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna’s run at Wimbledon came to an end when Mikhael Elgin and Denis Istomin lost in two.
