Prithvi Shaw is one of the most talented Indian openers to come into the limelight in recent times. The swashbuckling fly half came into the scene after a marathon 546 in a Shield match and since then he has been getting better.
Prithvi Shaw was born in Thane, Maharashtra on November 9, 1999. When he was four years old, his mother died. He started focusing on cricket as a way to cope.
His father, a merchant, decided to focus on his son’s business and closed his business. With the generous contract of AAP Entertainment, the duo moved to Santacruz, Mumbai. He is currently studying for his degree at Rizvi College
Prithvi Shaw’s foray into cricket started at a young age when his father enrolled him in a cricket school in Virar. Later, he became a member of the Middle Income Group (MIG) cricket team in Mumbai and continued to improve his skills.
In 2010, AAP Entertainment, a sports company, offered him a contract of Rs 300,000 per year so that he could pursue his career and move to Mumbai. Later in 2012, he was selected for a three-month visit to Cheadle Hulme School in Manchester; The goal is to study and train in different situations.
He learned to enjoy the English climate and even represented Gloucestershire’s second team. Julian Wood Cricket Academy and Bradfield College also invited him to participate in cricket/human development programmes. Since then, he has visited England many times and played various sports.
In 2013, he made local headlines when he broke the record for most runs scored in school cricket. In the school competition, he was the principal of Rizvi Springfield School and played against St. Francis D’Assisi School for the Harris Shield. He scored 546 runs off 330 balls in that match. He was soon named the Mumbai Under-16 captain for the upcoming Vijay Merchant Trophy.
He made his first-class debut in January 2017 against Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy series. He scored a century and a second and led his team to victory. In September 2017, he scored a century on Duleep Trophy debut and became the youngest player to do so. Sachin Tendulkar previously held this record.
Finally, Prithvi Shaw has been named the captain of the Indian U-19 team for the 2018 World Cup. The Indian U-19 team won the World Cup in February 2018 under his leadership. In 2018, he was included in the IPL auction and was bought by Delhi Daredevils for US$187,500. He entered into a multi-year sponsorship deal with Mumbai-based sports marketing firm Baseline Ventures.
He started playing cricket at the age of 3 with a rubber ball and bat given to him by his father. Prithvi’s mother died when he was only 3 years old after which his father took care of him and did not let him feel the loss of a mother.
He made 556 off 330 balls in the Haris Shield Match, in which he played for Rizvi Springfield in 2013. This game really proved that he is a boxer and after that he was praised by many amazing players.
Many people compare Prithvi with Sachin Tendulkar and say that this kid will be our next Tendulkar. Prithvi and his father travel 1 hour and 30 minutes by train for his cricket lessons.
Seeing his debut and Prithvi’s acting, everyone praised him. Sachin Tendulkar also praised Prithvi and is confident that Shaw will also increase the reputation of the Indian cricket team.
