Indian Cricketer Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill is an Indian cricketer who plays as a right-handed batsman for the Punjab cricket team and the Indian national cricket team. He also represented Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He made his first-class debut in the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy and has been a regular performer for the Punjab cricket team.
In the first ODI between India and New Zealand, a young cricketer named Shubman Gill made his mark in the world of cricket. he became the youngest Indian cricketer to score a double century with a brilliant performance of 208 runs off 149 balls. His knocks included 19 boundaries and 9 sixes.

Gill Early days
Shubman Gill was born in Fazilka, a town in Punjab, to Lakhwinder Gill and Keart Gill. He has a sister named Shahneel Gill. His father Lakhwinder Singh once spoke about his son’s passion for gambling.
His father, who is a farmer, asks the hired men to help him in the farm to throw balls to Gill to help him shoot. Lakhwinder was convinced of his talent and moved his family to Mohali and rented a house near the PCA stadium.
While training anonymously in a small academy opposite the PCA stadium in Mohali, former Indian pacer Karsan Ghavri organized a bowling camp for talented seamers where he wanted children to play against the fighting his ball. But suddenly, that’s when young Shubman came to the scene.
Shubman Gill’s Carrer
He made his surprise List A debut against Vidarbha representing Punjab in the 2016-2017 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
In February 2017, he was selected in the India U-19 squad for the series against England. In the same year, he had the opportunity to make his first-class debut in the 2017-2018 Ranji Trophy.
He was the topic of discussion after scoring an amazing first century for Punjab. Later in 2017, he played a major role in the Indian U-19 cricket team in the 2018 U-19 Cricket World Cup. He worked as the vice-captain of the cricket team and scored the highest score in the tournament.
Gill was named the tournament’s top scorer.
His performances at the domestic and international level and the World Cup have impressed many Indian Premier League coaches. In Indian Premier League 2018, he was bought by KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) for Rupees 1.8 Cr.
In IPL 2018, he played 27 matches for KKR and scored a total of 499 runs with an amazing average of 33.26.
Later in 2018, he also made his representation in 2018-2019 Deodhar Trophy and 2018-19 Ranji Trophy. During the 2018-2019 Ranji Trophy, he surprisingly crossed the 1000-run mark and became the top scorer of the Punjab team.
He made his ODI debut representing Team India in January 2019 against the New Zealand series. In IPL 2019, he was named the Emerging Player of the Tournament for his impressive skills.
He became the youngest Indian batsman to score a double century in his first first-class match. This performance was done in August 2019 during a match against West Indies.
After the series against West Indies, he was selected in the Indian team for the Test series against South Africa but unfortunately he was not selected in the XI. In 2019, he was blessed to captain the India C team in the 2019-20 Deodhar Trophy. After serving as team captain, he became the youngest player to captain a team in the tournament. He played a great role in the Indian team winning the series against Australia by scoring 91 in the fourth test.
Shubman Gill: Achievements and Records
Shubman was awarded the BCCI’s Best Junior Cricketer twice (U-14 and U-16) in 2013-14 and 2014-15.
He was the player of the tournament in the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He has a world record of 587 runs in partnership with Nirmal Singh.
