Biography of Cheteshwar Pujara

Cheteshwar Pujara is an Indian cricketer born on January 25, 1988 in Rajkot, Gujarat. He is a top right-handed batsman known for his aggressive and fiery style. He is often seen as the modern version of Indian cricketer, Rahul Dravid due to his ability to play long innings and anchor the Indian batting order.

Pujara’s Career

Starting Career

Cheteshwar started his career by playing in Under-19 cricket. He played first match against England in 2005 and scored 211 runs in opening innings which helped India to win by 137 runs. He was included for the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup and became the highest scorer in the Under-19 World Cup where he scored 349 runs in 6 innings including three fifties.

Domestic Carrer

Cheteshwar made his Ranji Trophy debut from December 17–20, 2005, in Rajkot against Vidarbh, which he scored 11 and 14 in two runs. He came into limelight when he scored 203 against Madhya Pradesh at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot to qualify Saurashtra for the 2012–13 Ranji Trophy quarter-finals.

In 2013, Pujara became the ninth batsman to score three career first-class triple centuries. His scores are: 302* for Saurashtra v Orissa in 2008/09, 352 for Saurashtra v Karnataka in 2012/13 and 306* for India A v West Indies A in 2013/14.
