Jason Jonathan Roy is an English cricketer who is one of the most important young cricketers in the England team right now. He was born on July 21, 1990 in Durban, South Africa. His parents are Craig Roy and Chonell Roy.

Jason Roy is South African by birth but moved to England with his family when he was 10 years old. He attended Whitgift School. Roy passed his A-level exams in the subjects of sports and business science, but his great interest in cricket made him pass up the opportunity to study at St. Mary’s University College instead of focusing on cricket. He represented Surrey Club at county cricket at under-11 and under-19 level.

Roy is also a member of Pemberton Greenish Surrey Academy. He impressed as a batsman playing for Surrey against South Africa with a rank of 19 showing strength in county cricket. He made important contributions to Surrey’s second team against established sides such as Hampshire. He was also in good form in 2008 against a Hampshire side. JasonRoy made his One Day International debut against Ireland on May 8, 2015. His T-20 debut came against India on September 7, 2014. He is a cricketer with a right-handed batting technique.

Roy holds the England record for the highest ODI score (180 v Australia in the 2018 tour of England, and Alex Hales holds the England record for the highest ODI partnership: 256* v Sri Lanka in their 2016 tour of England.

He is also the first batsman to be dismissed for blocking a pitch in T20I history. The Kolkata Knight Riders have opted to sign Roy as a substitute after losing two of their key players this season. Their captain Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury while Shakib Al Hasan has also ruled out IPL 2023 recently due to personal issues.

Roy has previously played for Gujarat Lions, Delhi Daredevils, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans in the IPL. He also played in franchise leagues such as Bangladesh Premier League, Big Bash League, Pakistan Super League, Mzansi Super League and The Hundred.

Finally, England got their hands on the silverware that had eluded them for nearly 40 years. They won the 2019 international tournament against New Zealand and Jason Roy led the campaign. Jason started with a blistering 50 against South Africa before collapsing on 153 against Bangladesh.

And then, tragedy struck England and Roy. He tore his left hamstring and missed three games. England won two of those matches and are looking to get eliminated in a do-or-die match against India. But Roy announced his comeback with his rare form of hitting the Indian bowlers all over the field en route to a 57-ball 66.

His opening partnership with Jonny Bairstow resulted in three consecutive partnerships. over 100 and that paved the way for victory in England. Roy’s white ball prowess is no longer a secret, but his red ball technique is often questioned. But the England manager pushed him and Roy made his Test debut against Ireland ahead of the 2019 Ashes, a series in which he was selected.
